Welcome to my web pages. The
motivation for this web page is to share and discuss the vast amount of
information I have amassed on the Sorrells of Madison and Walton Counties,
Georgia, Sorrells of the South, Cash and the Francis Wright
families of Amherst County, Virginia and on other ancestors of mine.. I
also wanted to preserve these records for my children and grandchildren and to
make these records easily accessible.
This work is based on the compilation
of the Sorrells , Cash, Williams family and others in my 1985 book, Our Southern Ancestors, but it has been
revised and updated .

The Francis Wright family, the Whitehead family, the Bohannons,
the Skeltons, McAshans, Jolly families and others have been researched since
the book was finished. It is not meant to be all inclusive of the
descendants I have found. I suggest that you see that book also if
you want more details on this or selected other southern Sorrells
or Cash lines. The book is out of print, but is in about 75 libraries
throughout the country, and possibly available by interlibrary loan.
The main couples and descendants of each Sorrells generation have
been linked for you to access them easily from the descendants index, also many
of the other families are indexed. Each
couple or child has been given a number to facilitate finding him or her.
The numbers are sequential and simply counting forward or backwards will lead
you to the person with a particular number. This facilitates cross
references throughout the text when mentioning that person elsewhere.
Parenthesis with the first names and
superior generation numbers of the ancestors from whom he descends are given
beside the descendant's name in the biography.
I have put brackets in the text
to document the sources I used. This lets the researcher know where he
may look for further details. I have worked with diligence, but as
always, errors will inevitably surface in a work of family history, which is,
by nature, a secondary source. It is always best to look at
the original or primary source for the answer when conflicts arise.
Your browser may be used to access
any of the pages and the index from the links at the bottom of each
page. I enjoy and welcome your comments. A guestbook link has
been provided at the top of this page in order for you to contact me. Happy
hunting! Just contact me with any questions you have, and I will
try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. Also please tell me of
any corrections, additional information you have.
