This is the story that Andy's son, Wayne, remembers his father teiing about his war experiences. "The story which I remember most was how my father, Andrew Friesen was shot down during World War II. Usually he was a bombadier on an aircraft called "Slow But Sure", but he was not on that one for this particular mission, because I think the plane was in the shop. They called it "Slow But Sure" because it was the slowest aircraft in formation and he said the Germans would shoot at the bad plane and by the time the 88mm reached the formation it exploded by the "Slow But Sure".
They were on a B-17 called "You'll Never Know" and one round blew an engine right off the plane. Another engine was hit hard and had a piston blown out of it, and he said those engines were so well built that it still kept running witout a piston. They had to "feather" stop that engine. One man on the plane was hit by a 20mm in the hip and fell out . Another man thought they said bale out. They saw two parachutes but found out later that civilians killed both men. One was only 17 years old. They were able to belly land the plane and were taken care of by friendlys."
