At this time, this Richard cannot be clearly identified. It is not
known to the compiler if this was the same person as the Richard on the 1782
Surry Co. N.C. tax list . Residents of other places may be included on a
tax list because they own property in the listing district. This record
does show that there was an older Richard Sorrells in Burke County, that is
older than Richard of the 1800 Burke County census, and this Richard was there
at the same time as Walter.
