TX by his wife, SUSAN STURDIVANT,  b. abt 1835, Walton Co.Ga.; died 18 Dec. 1894, Mills Co. TX.  They were married in WaltonCo. on 11 Oct. 1849 [Bk D:328].   Franklin was the son of Charles and his second wife, Sarah Rhodes Sorrells.

Franklin and Susan were in the 1850 Walton Co census.  Franklin left Georgia after 1855 for Texas.  In 1857 he was in Rusk Co. TX. Loose papers in Georgia Archives for him consist of the original marriage license, and a few other records.

After going to Texas, he farmed, served in the Confederate States Army with Company H 1, Texas Heavy Artillery,  was a prisoner of war and signed a statement 1 July 1865 that he would not participate in any action against the Union Forces.  He was probably forced to sign this in order to be freed.   He also served with the Texas Rangers from Decatur, Wise Co. TX from 1870-71.  His future son-in-law, Asa Lee Lewis was in the same Texas Rangers outfit at that time. Franklin was living in Gonzales Co. TX by 1871.

Franklin was a freighter at one time when young, but then in his later years, he traveled the country side selling eye glasses.  By 1875 he moved to Central Texas to Mills County. He died sometime after his wife died in 1894.
